Here's Where Kanye's "Lift Yourself" Landed on the Billboard Songs Chart

Kanye West's troll of a track titled "Lift Yourself" (does Poopy-di scoop, Scoop-diddy-whoop ring a bell?) is apparently bubbling underneath the Billboard Hot 100 chart right now, just five spots away from being including in the top 100. That means some of you have been streaming Kanye's troll enough that it's actually very close to charting—nice.

The bulk of the song features a choral singing of the lines "Lift yourself up on your feet, let's get it on/Hard to see, the hangups we have today." 'Ye comes in at the end, with less than a minute left in the song to give fans a compelling scat about poop.

Perhaps Donald Glover's parody of the track on Saturday Night Live boosted its streams, or its inclusion on the illustrious Spotify playlist Rap Caviar helped "lift" the song, but either way it's not out of the realm of possibilities that "Lift Yourself" could be entering the Hot 100 by next week.

Of course if this is a serious track from Kanye, and an indication of how his forthcoming project will fair on the charts next month, than a song not making it into the Hot 100 its first week is not a good sign. In his long interview with Charlamagne tha God, 'Ye expressed his frustrations with radio airplay, and how he feels it's hindered his success as an artist.

"Khaled got this song, Drake got this song on the radio, it's playing to death. 'Saint Pablo' ain't playing," he complained. "The cultural impact is incredible, but I'm looking for other forms of validation. Of course, 'Father Stretch [My Hands Pt. 1]' is in the club and on the radio a bit—it went to number one. But… it's frustrating. Ever since the Taylor Swift moment, it's never been the same, the connection with radio... [I]f you're an artist and you signed to a major label, you want to be on the radio, especially if...you're one of the most famous people on the planet… It seems like radio should be impacted."

Kanye's track "Famous" was the highest charting song on his last album The Life of Pablo, peaking at No. 34. It seems that if he wants to recover from the disappointing performance of TLOP, releasing a silly song about poop is probably not the way to do it.
